Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses, usually caused by a viral infection. The sinuses are small, air-filled cavities behind your cheekbones and forehead that can become swollen, blocked, and filled with mucus.

How We Treat Sinusitis
Under the NHS Pharmacy First service, our qualified pharmacists can assess your sinusitis and provide appropriate treatment without a GP appointment.
- Assessment of symptom duration and severity
- Steroid nasal spray prescription
- Decongestant recommendations
- Antibiotic prescription if bacterial infection suspected (symptoms lasting more than 10 days)
- Self-care advice and follow-up

Who Is Eligible
The Pharmacy First sinusitis service is available to patients of all ages. No GP referral is needed — simply walk in during our opening hours for a free assessment.
When to Visit
Visit us if symptoms persist for more than 10 days or are worsening. Seek prompt assessment if you have severe facial pain or a high fever.
What to Bring
Bring a list of any current medications and your NHS number if possible. No prescription or GP letter is required. Just walk in during opening hours.
