The NMS is a free NHS service that provides follow-up support when you start a new medicine for a long-term condition. Our pharmacists check how you're getting on, help manage side effects, and ensure you get the best from your treatment.

What Happens During NMS
The NMS covers new medicines for conditions including asthma/COPD, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and blood-thinning (anticoagulant/antiplatelet) therapy.
- Initial consultation when you collect your new prescription
- First follow-up at around 7 days — how are you getting on?
- Second follow-up at 14-21 days — settling in with the medicine?
- Advice on managing any side effects
- Support to stay on track with your treatment plan
