Meningitis B is the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in the UK. It can cause life-threatening infection of the brain membranes and blood poisoning (septicaemia). The Bexsero vaccine provides protection against Meningococcal group B bacteria.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?
The Meningitis B vaccine is recommended for the following groups:
- Babies and young children not yet vaccinated on the NHS schedule
- Older children and teenagers who missed the NHS programme
- University students living in shared accommodation
- Adults who want added protection
- People with no spleen or certain immune conditions
The NHS provides Bexsero free for babies at 8, 16 weeks and 1 year. For anyone else, the vaccine is available privately at our pharmacy.
What You Need to Know
Dosing Schedule
Babies: 2 doses plus a booster. Children aged 2-10: 2 doses. Age 11 and over: 2 doses given 1 month apart.
